The side effect of tipping is that it goes mostly to preserving that video on immutable, decentralized storage like DB, called IPFS.
Making it always accessable from anywhere.
When a viewer tips a video, VideoSpot automatically pins the video on IPFS and maintains that file for at least 1 year.
This way only valuable content gets preserved. Anyone can tip a favorite video from a creator as a small reward for the creation.
This also means that video is censorship-resistant and content-addressable like a torrent file instead of a piece of data on a centralized DB on some VPS.
Any video can be uploaded but after two weeks the untipped videos will be eventually removed from the network as there was no incentive to preserve.
It is solely on viewers to maintain the video for the future to come by engaging with it and giving it a small tip if it provided any value for them.
